Outfits to expect on the streets of Sheffield this Halloween

For Sheffield students Halloween can be considered the biggest event of the year. But at parties, clubs, and on the streets, what outfits can we expect to see?

Ladybird

As seen on TikTok the ladybird costume will definitely be hitting the Sheffield streets this Halloween. A cute tutu or just red dress with wings and a touch of polka dots seems to be one of this years top pics. This has also been paired with a bumblebee to create a perfect duo costume.

Mermaid

This costume works perfectly for students and those not wanting to spend too much on one use items but instead get items they can also reuse again on a club night out. With some mystical makeup and wavy hair to finish it makes the perfect whimsical outfit.

Cat

An absolute classic and though it’s basic it simply never goes out of style. Anyone can grab that black dress and ears if they have them – but even if they don’t some eyeliner drawn whiskers will do. A Sheffield specific cat we may see a little extra is the tiger – courtesy of Tiger Works – and their headbands many Sheffield students own.

Princess

Reuse that clubbing dress and grab a tiara and you’re good to go. Disney princess provide an array of inspiration and options for costumes. More specifically…

  • Sleeping beauty – pink dress and crown, or even pyjamas (although we can’t promise you’ll be accepted into the clubs)
  • Merida – green dress, curly hair, slightly questionable Scottish accent and you’re good to go
  • Rapunzel – purple dress, hair in a plait and a frying pan to fend off any grimy men

Magic Mike

An easy costume for guys and girls alike. Throw on that white tank top, tie, backwards cap, Calvin Kleins and unbutton those jeans and get ready to show some moves. Sheffield is definitely known for seeing some shapes thrown and magic mike could also make the perfect group costume, as in the movie they are a group after all.

Peaky Blinders

We’re bound to see some boys sporting a flat cap and thinking they’re Cillian Murphy this year. Almost any occasion for fancy dress boys take the opportunity to become a peaky blinder and they think they look cold doing it, Halloween in Sheffield is no exception. Time will tell as to whether this has the desired effect.

Adam Sandler

Easy, cool and nonchalant – a pair of baggy shorts and a baggy t-shirt simply does the job and is something many Sheffield students already have in their wardrobe – meaning its certain it will be seen this Halloween.

Scream

Is it really Halloween if some lads don’t throw on a scary mask and call it a day? They’ll be bound to jump out at you – so keep an eye out but at least it’s to be expected.

Cowboys

The Wild West is definitely due a visit to Sheffield this Halloween. Cowboy boots have become a staple in many girls’ wardrobes and many societies see the Wild West theme throughout the year making this one an easy go to. This also works well as a couples costume or for movie references such as Woody and Jessie.

Prisoners

Some of these men deserve jail time for how they act – at least this Halloween they’re being honest about it. Haggles of men in orange jumpsuits are certain to be seen on the streets of Sheffield, but at least we’ll see them coming.

It’s absolutely fine to be predictable this Halloween, if the costumes are good: the costumes are good. That being said, we’re also bound to see some rogue outfits around Sheffield as this October comes to a close.
