Dogs from TEARS star in Re-Loved Fashion Show

Fashion has gone to the dogs – literally, and all for a good cause.

Next month, TEARS is hosting the Re-Loved Fashion Show. Here, rescue dogs from the Cape Town-based animal shelter will strut their stuff in redesigned second-hand clothing.

Here’s the lowdown on this dogwalk extravaganza:

RE-LOVED FASHION SHOW: DOGS TAKE OVER CATWALK

Thanks to sponsorship by Hill’s Pet Nutrition, several fashion designers and design students will pick out donated garments from TEARS’ thrift shop racks. Then, they will repurpose them into runway-ready outfits.

Participating designers include:

  • Me&B.
  • Lara Klawikowski.
  • VictorK.
  • Manila von Teez, who runs Haus of Vjorn.
  • Mareth Colleen.
  • Students from the Cape Town College of Fashion Design, the Elizabeth Galloway Academy of Fashion Design and the Fashion Institute of Garment Technology.

Dogs from the shelter will then be dolled up in these designer duds and sashay down the runway alongside their human model counterparts (who will also be donning these haute couture hand-me-downs).

According to The Cape Argus, the Re-Loved Fashion Show will take place on 13 and 14 November 2025 from 18:00 to 22:00.

Both shows – hosted by comedian Angel Campey – will be held at Simon’s Restaurant on the Groot Constantia Wine Farm.

Tickets cost R350 and include a welcome drink, canapés, and the opportunity to mix and mingle with the canine models between each showcase.

Additionally, you will be able to make use of the fully stocked bar and obtain free nutritional advice from Hill’s Food’s veterinary team, who will also be selling pet food.

RE-LOVED FASHION SHOW: RESTYLED AND RE-HOMED

The organisers will hold an auction on the night. This means you have the chance to walk away with designer pieces that the models wore at the shows.

There’s also an opportunity to adopt one or more of the dogs who participated in the event.

All proceeds from the ticket sales, auction and pet food sales will go towards funding TEARS’ rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing efforts.

Tickets are available now via www.quicket.co.za. Your support will go a long way in helping these furry fashionistas and the rest of their canine brethren. It will also bring them one paw-step closer to finding their forever homes.
