This Scottish girl faked a pregnancy for nine months — and she’s finally spoken out

A Scottish girl from Wishaw has gone viral after she allegedly faked a pregnancy for nine months, using a fake bump and reborn baby doll to convince her family, friends, and even her partner that she was expecting.

She had all the evidence

For months, Kira Cousins, 23, shared pregnancy updates online: Bump photos, scan pictures, and even videos showing the baby kicking. Her friends threw her a gender-reveal party, complete with pink smoke, cake, and decorations — all celebrating baby Bonnie-Leigh.

She even posted about hospital appointments, complications, and heart problems with the baby. Family and friends rallied around her, with many buying gifts, clothes, and even a £1,000 pram.

On the 10th October, her cousin Naeve McRoberts claimed Kira pretended she had given birth alone, in the middle of the night. She shared pictures of her leaving the hospital with baby Bonnie Leigh in a car seat, and claimed she didn’t need help from anyone else.

Kira’s mum found out

But when the baby was born, Kira’s mum allegedly discovered the truth after finding out baby Bonnie Leigh was actually an incredibly realistic doll hidden in Kira’s room.

Her cousin shared the whole story on TikTok, where it’s since gone viral. In the video, she explains how the family had believed the pregnancy and birth for months, right up until Kira’s mum uncovered the truth.

“Everybody believed Kira,” Naeve says in the video. “She had a gender reveal, she posted scan photos, and even said the baby had a hole in its heart. Then she texted me saying the baby was born. We were all so happy.”

According to Naeve, the situation came to light when Kira’s mum entered her room and realised something was seriously off. The baby didn’t move or cry, and no one was ever allowed to hold it, so she was curious.

After the discovery, Kira deleted her social media accounts and reportedly left to stay with her dad.

Naeve’s original TikTok video now has three million views. There are thousands of comments expressing their disgust and confusion at how it was possible for Kira to lie to her family for that long. Kira herself stayed quiet, until yesterday evening when she posted a TikTok addressing the situation. She had previously posted other videos, but has since taken them all down. In it, she confirmed that her family and boyfriend had no idea what was going on.

‘Don’t think they let me get away with this — they haven’t’

She said: “While I’m not condoning any behaviour led by myself, I’d like to clear some things up. No one should be hating towards either family, and specifically not Jamie. None of my family knew, nor did Jamie’s.

“I had been keeping myself away from literally everyone, went into my own bubble and didn’t want anyone around me at all.

“My family sat me down and asked me what had happened earlier in my pregnancy which I will come out and address when I’m also ready to. Don’t for one min think either they let me away with any of this. THEY HAVEN’T.”
