Mamelodi Sundowns sign Ronwen Williams ‘replacement’

Mamelodi Sundowns have signed a promising young goalkeeper.

The Brazilians are not only focusing on the present, but their latest move shows one eye is indeed on the future at Chloorkop.

Masandawana currently have an ageing goalkeeper unit. Ronwen Williams (33), Denis Onyango (40), Jody February (29) and Reyaad Pieterse (33) are currently on the books of the club.

Now, the club have signed a highly talented 16-year-old goalkeeper!

Mamelodi Sundowns sign teenage goalkeeper

Mamelodi Sundowns have signed 16-year-old goalkeeper Lwandiso Radebe from the SuperSport United academy.

Radebe is currently the number one keeper and captain for the South African Under-17 team.

And while Ronwen Williams still has a good few years left in the tank, it appears the Brazilians have identified Radebe as the perfect long-term replacement.

In fact, like Radebe, Williams also came through the SuperSport United academy setup. He joined Mamelodi Sundowns after graduating from the United academy to the club’s first-team.

One eye on the future at Chloorkop

Mamelodi Sundowns are home to some of the best senior players in the country.

Despite their quality, it’s clear to see the club are pushing to bleed youngsters into their star-studded squad.

Masandawana are already home to two other teenagers in the form of Siyabonga Mabena and Kutlwano Lethlaku.

It remains to be seen whether Radebe will be given the opportunity to work with the club’s first-team just yet.

One thing however for sure is that Mamelodi Sundowns will be looking to nurture Radebe and give him all the tools needed to succeed at the club in the long-term.
