People on the MAFS UK Reddit spotted the show’s relationship expert, Paul C. Brunson, liking a comment about Steven’s “abusive” behaviour towards his wife, Nelly.
Though Nelly and Steven got off to a solid start at the beginning of the experiment, that all came crashing down once they had moved in together. Steven has lost his temper numerous times on the show, screaming at his new wife and calling her a “f**king idiot” in an earlier argument before dubbing her emotional response “f**king clownish, man.”
“Why am I liking someone who’s treating me like this?” Nelly said after that argument.
Things have only grown more explosive from there, with Steven angrily storming out of several conversations with other cast members. Afterwards, he called his behaviour “aggressive” and apologised, but people have been slamming him on Twitter for weeks.
“Narcissistic behaviour by Steven, vile behaviour that the producers and MAFS team should nip in the bud.#MAFSUK. He’s an absolute monster, but will always make it look like it’s Nelly’s fault,” one person wrote on Twitter.
Another said: “Get in the bin, Steven, you’re an abusive narcissistic individual, nasty piece of work.”
Though Paul was applauded for his handling of Steven during the most recent commitment ceremony, others have argued that experts should be watching more than just the dinner parties to get a full picture of the relationship.

In one of his recent explanations on Instagram, which came after he addressed his confrontation with Sarah, Paul unpacked the pattern of Steven “minisming” Nelly’s feelings in the MAFS experiment.
“And when that pattern repeated right there, in real time, I took the opportunity to step in,” he wrote alongside the clip. “As experts on MAFS, we’re present to give the couples the tools, space and sometimes hard truths they need to grow both as individuals and in their relationships. My promise to them is to only show up with honesty and care at every opportunity.”

In a comment he has since liked, one person claimed: “He’s an abuser, just because he doesn’t raise his fists now doesn’t mean that he won’t. Verbal abuse and coercive behaviour is still abuse.”
His liking of the comment was immediately picked up on Reddit, where one person posted a screenshot alongside the caption: “Interesting that Paul seems to be confirming that’s how he sees Steven.”
Steven earlier responded to ‘abusive’ claims
When someone called out Steven’s “disrespectful, misogynistic and abusive” behaviour in the MAFS UK season 10 experiment, Steven replied in the comments: “Thank you Pamela. Absolutely adore this glowing review of me from yourself. For taking time out of your busy evening to comment here, I do truly appreciate. Have an amazing evening.”
