KZN EDTEA: Internships 2025 / 2027

The Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA) invites suitably qualified and unemployed South African graduates to apply for the 2025–2027 Internship Programme.

Internship Location: Head Office, Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa

This 24-month internship aims to support the Department’s commitment to the National Skills Development Strategy (NSDS III), National Growth Path (NGP), Provincial Growth and Development Strategy (PGDS), and National Development Plan (NDP) Vision 2030.


About the EDTEA Internship Programme

The EDTEA Internship Programme offers young graduates the opportunity to gain practical workplace experience in the public sector while enhancing their skills and employability. Interns will receive a monthly stipend for the duration of the 24-month structured programme.

This internship is part of the Department’s Corporate Services – Administration Programme under the Communications and Marketing Unit.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be unemployed South African citizens between the ages of 18–35.
  • Hold a three-year Degree or National Diploma in a relevant field from a recognised university or university of technology.
  • Not have participated in any internship programme in a government department or municipality before.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit:

  1. A completed and signed Z83 form (new version effective 1 January 2021), obtainable from any Public Service Department or www.dpsa.gov.za/vacancies.
  2. A detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV) indicating employment dates in DD/MM/YYYY format.
  3. A signed affidavit confirming that the applicant has not previously benefited from any government internship programme.
  4. Certified copies of qualifications (to be submitted by shortlisted candidates before interviews).
  5. SAQA evaluation certificate (for foreign qualifications).
