Saffa gets US visa revoked after calling Charlie Kirk ‘trailer trash’

A South African – Nota Baloyi – has had his US visa revoked over a tweet in which he labelled assassinated conservative Charlie Kirk “white nationalist trailer trash.”

The music industry executive has since issued a public apology.

US DEPARTMENT OF STATE REVOKES SAFFA’S VISA OVER CHARLIE KIRK’S VIEWS

In a post on its official X account, the US Department of State announced that it would be revoking the visas of “foreigners who wish death on Americans”.

The basis of the action was due to a handful of x users around the world who tweeted their controversial views about Charlie Kirk, who was shot and killed last month.

A statement read: “The State Department continues to identify visa holders who celebrated the heinous assassination of Charlie Kirk.”

The department went on to list the “aliens who are no longer welcome in the U.S.” One of them is the well-known South African music producer Nota Baloyi.

Others, including X users from Brazil, Argentina, Germany, and Paraguay.

WHAT DID NOTA TWEET ABOUT CHARLIE KIRK?

In a screenshot posted by the US Department of State, Nota Baloyi – whose name is blurred out – tweeted the following: “Neanderthals can’t have their cake and eat it. This weekend, they went openly anti-black racist, and now they’re hurt that the racist rally ended in attempted martyrdom.

“Charlie Kirk won’t be remembered as a hero. He was used to astroturf a movement of white nationalist trailer trash!”.

NEANDERTHAL COMMENTS, APOLOGY

Earlier this year, the South African Human Rights (SAHRC) organisation initiated legal proceedings against Nota Baloyi over his “hate speech” public views.

In comments shared on both X and his podcast, The Huster’s Corner, Baloyi labelled white people as “Neanderthals” and being “inhuman”.

He said: “They [white people] are an inferior species (compared) to us. We’re Homo Sapiens; they have got Neanderthal blood in them. This is the science. This science was not done by black people, it was done by them”.

Baloyi rescinded his comments and issued a formal apology, stating, “I understand the importance of fostering a culture of respect and am committed to turning the incident into a learning experience.

“I believe that through honest dialogue and sincere apologies, we can work towards healing and reconciliation. I’m committed to this process and to rebuilding trust.”
