Health Systems Trust (HST), in collaboration with the Youth Employment Service (YES) Programme, is offering 25 practical work experience opportunities to unemployed South African youth. The programme aims to empower young people by providing them with valuable workplace exposure in the health sector.
Participants will be placed either at health facilities within uMgungundlovu District (19 positions) or at the HST Head Office in Westville, Durban (6 positions).

Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must:
- Be South African citizens aged 18–35 years
- Be currently unemployed
- Not be enrolled in full-time studies
- Not be receiving any government grants (excluding social relief grants)
- Have a matric certificate
- Have an interest in gaining experience within the health sector

uMgungundlovu District (19 Positions)
Placements will be made at the following clinics:
Maguzu, Howick, Mpophomeni, Caluza, Mpumuza, Pata, Eastboom, Masons, Central City, Imbalenhle, Impilwenhle, Snathing, Gcumisa, Appelsbosch, Richmond, Ndaleni, Gomane, Bruntville, and Mooi River Clinic.
Corporate Services (6 Positions)
Placements at HST Head Office (1 Maryvale Road, Westville, Durban) in the following departments:
- Human Resources
- Finance
- Administration
Minimum Requirement
- Matric certificate (Grade 12)
