The Original Factory Shop in Spennymoor is next to close down, with huge sales on its stock.

Signs have been stuck up across the shop windows and throughout the store alerting customers shutdown and sale.

Everything Must Go!“, they read, and “Store Closing Down” is written on the storefront.

Men’s and ladies clothing, as well as shoes, have been put 20 per cent off.

Toys and games are also 20 per cent off.

Things like handbags and backpacks are selling for 50 per cent off their original price.

The news has come as a blow to locals, with one sharing they were “so sad, love that store”.

Others wrote on social media: “Aww I’m gutted it’s the end of an era for everyone, such good memories in there with all the staff xxx.”

“Such a shame, Lovely staff as well. Good luck in the future guys.”

Another added: “Aww never that is the only shop in Spennymoor where you can get everything it will be a big miss.”

The high street chain has already closed more than 30 stores since the beginning of the year.

Four went last week, including shops in Wetherby, Horley, Spalding and Otley.

And in September, a branch in South Yorkshire and Chard closed.

The branch in Whitchurch, Shropshire also closed at the end of August with a 50 per cent closing down sale.

Closures have come ass the chain is undergoing a major restructuring due to its acquisition by Modella Capital earlier in the year.

Modella is known for taking on struggling retailers and has also recently bought Hobbycraft and WHSmith’s high street shops.

The firm quickly launched a restructuring effort to renegotiate rents at 88 The Original Factory Shop stores.

A number of loss-making stores are set to be shut down in the major shake-up to the chain.

The Original Factory Shop is not the only retailer that is being hit by mass store closures.

Poundland have launched closing down sales at nine of its stores before they shut for good.

The bargain retailer has shut down five other branches in the last week.

Poundland also dramatically saved three of its stores that were set to close.

And High street favourite Claire’s Accessories is set to permanently close 145 stores, despite a rescue deal that pulled the brand out of administration.

Exact closing dates will differ from shop to shop, but shutters are expected to come down within weeks.
