The Traitors star reveals she has two wombs, one kidney and details health battle so painful ‘it’s like being stabbed’

A FAN-FAVOURITE star of The Traitors has opened up on her “abnormal anatomy” – and a health battle so painful it “feels like being stabbed.”

The BBC One show contestant told how she was left “terrified” after medics “didn’t understand” her complex condition initially.

Yet in a new podcast, the opera singer told of her ‘abnormal anatomy’[/caption]

Elen Wyn, 25, found fame on the most recent civilian series of The Traitors, yet was the second banished contestant on the BBC murder mystery game.

The Welsh lass – who is an opera singer and translator away from her reality TV fame – previously told how doctors “laughed off” her painful health symptoms.

When her periods began aged 14 she frequently missed school and sat out of sport because of her discomfort.

Now Elen has opened up to the It’s Not Just A Period podcast and told that, in addition to her suspected endometriosis, it was found she had two wombs and two cervixes, a medical condition known as Uterus Didelphys.

The Cardiff native, who was a Faithful in the series, said a doctor previously asked: “Has no one ever told you you’ve got one kidney?’”

She told how she replied: “No, I didn’t know that,” before being referred for an internal ultrasound.

After the nurse couldn’t locate her cervix, Elen admitted she was “terrified” as a second opinion was needed.

She said of the medical observation: “So many people were just looking at this screen inside of me and they just didn’t understand.

“They were like ‘so you don’t have endometriosis but your anatomy is very different, so we are going to refer you to have an MRI scan quite urgently to see what’s going on.”

Elen told how it was again “terrifying” to be told she didn’t have endometriosis – where cells similar to those in the lining of the womb (uterus) grow in other parts of the body.

Her suspicion of the women’s health condition came after seeing other sufferers on TikTok, before she began to piece together she might have endometriosis.

Some days the pain was so bad she was unable to walk or leave the house.

She previously said of her pain battle: “Sometimes it’s like you’re being repeatedly stabbed.

“I knew it wasn’t normal regardless of what I was told.”

Uterus Didelphys – what is it?

The Traitors star Elen Wyn has revealed she’s got two cervix and two wombs – yet what is this condition?

Medically, a double uterus and cervix is known as Uterus Didelphys.

It is one of the least common uterine abnormalities – yet most people don’t know they have it as it doesn’t spark any symptoms.

According to the Cleveland Clinic: “A double uterus is a congenital abnormality that you are born with.

“Your two uterine cavities are narrower than the cavity of a typical uterus. Each uterus has its own fallopian tube and ovary.”

They add: “It can cause pregnancy complications and painful menstruation.

“Some people have surgery to treat uterus didelphys, but most cases don’t require treatment.”

MEDICAL CONFUSION

During the very frank podcast chat, the vocalist explained just how doctors were attempting to fathom her condition during the ultrasound.

They asked her if she had two periods a month, which she denied.

Elen continued: “They asked me ‘do you use tampons or pads’ [during her period] and I said ‘both.’

‘And they asked me if I insert a tampon do I continue to bleed, and I said ‘no.’

“So it’s all normal except from my two wombs.”

Admitting she was confused by the situation herself, she then added: “What I don’t understand is if I have two wombs – I still have so many questions – if I have two wombs – why do they bleed at the same time?

“Are they just in sync?

“I need closure I guess.”
