NOVEMBER 2025 SASSA OLD-AGE GRANTS
It’s understood that around two-million South African Social Security Agency recipients still use Postbank. That’s why the agency is urging the last remaining clients to setup other banking arrangements for their SASSA grants as soon as possible. Because the Postbank-SASSA divorce is likely to get nasty before the end of the year.
Likewise, recipients of November 2025 SASSA Old-Age Grants are reminded that strict grant reviews are ongoing. As The South African reported, the 2026-2027 budget for core SASSA grants shrinks by R14 billion in the coming financial year. And the agency is exacting any means necessary to save money.
WHO CAN APPLY FOR OLD-AGE GRANTS?
Nevertheless, there are new elders turning 60 every single day in South Africa. So, how can they apply for November 2025 SASSA Old-Age Grants? Firstly, you need to know that applications can take up to three months to be processed. However, if successful, you will be back paid to the date of your initial application.
It’s also important that you know the asset and means (income) limits and do not exceed these, or you won’t be eligible. Your income must not be more than R107 800 (single) or R215 760 (married) per annum. Likewise, assets in your name cannot be valued to more than R1 524 600 (single) or R3 049 200 (married).
HOW TO APPLY FOR NOVEMBER 2025 SASSA OLD-AGE GRANTS
A government pension is available to any over 60 who doesn’t already receive a social grant. And anyone who is not housed in a state institution/care facility. To make your application for November 2025 SASSA Old-Age Grants, bring the following with you to a SASSA office:
- Your official RSA identity document (preferably a Smart ID Card).
- A valid three months’ statement certified by your bank.
- All documents proving your marital status.
- Proof of residence (a utility bill with your name on it, not older than three months).
- Documents proving your income and/or financial dividends.
- Comprehensive information regarding assets/valuation of property.
- A declaration of any private pension in your name.
If your November 2025 SASSA Old-Age Grants are denied, you have 90 days to appeal HERE.
PASSING A SASSA GRANT REVIEW
As mentioned, the agency is strictly looking into the legality of many of its grant clients. Therefore, while elderly pensioners will never have to reapply for their benefits, they may have to pass a regular review and undergo mandatory biometric enrolment (if they have not already done so).
Assuming you have not tried to manipulate the SASSA grant system by lying about your income, it’s a straightforward procedure:
- Report immediately to a SASSA office if you receive an SMS.
- Bring along a recent bank statement/valid work payslip.
- A copy of your ID.
- Proof of residence (no older than three months).
Once the review is rectified, you will receive your grant on a new ‘fourth’ payment date that falls just after core SASSA grants are paid.
