Seven Lakes Country Park in Crowle, near Scunthorpe, has been bought by Unity Holidays — and bosses are wasting no time transforming it into a top UK getaway spot.
The growing leisure firm, which also runs Unity Beach in Somerset and Skirlington Coast in East Yorkshire, plans a total revamp of the park’s bar and restaurant, alongside new water-themed attractions to make the most of its ten freshwater lakes.
Guests can expect a sailing school, paddleboarding, a giant inflatable assault course, a spa and sauna, plus icy dips and hot tubs.
The move is part of Unity’s wider £20million investment drive, including major upgrades at its Skirlington Coast site, as the firm doubles down on boosting Britain’s booming staycation scene.
ABOUT THE SITE
The site is set across 220 acres of parkland and features 10 fishing lakes and a large 40-acre watersports lake.
The park sells and rents holiday homes and static caravans, with an open season typically running from March to early January.
The park’s woodland trails are suitable for walks and are dog-friendly.
The area surrounding Seven Lakes Country Park is dominated by the Humberhead Peatlands, a unique landscape of reclaimed fenland with a rich industrial and natural history.
Crowle is a small town on the Isle of Axholme, an area that was historically marshland until it was drained by Dutch engineers in the 17th century.
The town has roots in the medieval period and a prominent Grade I listed church with Norman origins, St. Oswald’s.
The gothic-revival Market Hall hosts community events, and the annual Crowle Show celebrates the region’s agricultural heritage.
The park is next to Crowle Moors, which are part of a much larger protected area.
The moors are a nationally and internationally important site for wildlife, with a unique mix of northern and southern species.
The area is home to rare plants like bog-rosemary and insectivorous sundews, as well as a wide array of insects, birds (including nightjars), and reptiles like adders.

They are recreating a lounging space and creating a pavilion theatre[/caption]
The investment will go towards an indoor and outdoor swimming pool[/caption]
Unity Holidays’ CEO Dermot King has shared his vision for the revamped holiday park and what he plans to spend the investment on.
He revealed: “Seven Lakes is a four-week-old business to us, and our attraction to the region is because we think there’s a gap in the market for that region.
“It already has lakeside activities, such as fishing and jet skis, but we’re introducing sailing schools and paddleboards, and an inflatable assault course on water.
“We’re also creating a stage on the lake itself because at one end there’s a natural amphitheatre, so we can have live entertainment during the summer.
“We are investing in an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, and we are recreating lounging space, creating a pavilion theatre, and bringing the whole proposition to life.
“There will be an investment in a live music lounge, and a complete internal bar refurbishment, as well as an investment in the external terraces.
“We will also be upgrading the whole food offer because experienced customers are prepared to pay for and want a better food proposition, so we will be looking to bring in chefs.
“We will be introducing lakeside fresh water hot tubs, and ice water swimming, and a whole spa and sauna experience, which will combine with the fresh water, lakeside swimming experience.”
