FRESH rumours from well-connected sources have given an indication of when gamers are likely to get their hands on the new PS6.
And as one of PlayStation’s own recently revealed, it does appear to be just a “few years” off.

A seven year gap between main console releases is plausible[/caption]
That could also bring it right in line with the next Xbox too if rumours are to believed.
Players are eager to find out when the PS5 successor will be launched with no official word from Sony yet.
Many will recall that the original PS5 was unleashed way back in November 2020 amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
We’ve had several updated builds of the PS5 in the years since, including a Pro model and a slim version.
There had been rumours that a 2026 release date for the PS6 could be on the cards.
But it’s increasingly looking like the next gen console may land a year later in 2027.
And now a notorious leaker has added to that belief.
KeplerL2 says “it’s the plan [to release the PS6 in 2027] unless any unexpected delays occur”.
A 2027 release year would also line up with the sort of gaps we’ve previously seen from Sony of seven years.
Just a few days ago, PlayStation system architect Mark Cerny gave a few small details about what to expect.
“Overall, it’s still of course very early days for these technologies, they only exist in simulation right now, but the results are quite promising and I’m really excited about bringing them to a future console in a few years time,” he said.
