Popular holiday park has Lapland-like experience this Christmas – and it’s £500 cheaper than Center Parcs

A UK holiday park that is often called the “affordable Center Parcs” has Lapland Christmas experience that is hundreds cheaper.

Bluestone National Park in Pembrokeshire is often named one of the best holiday resorts in the UK.

The popular Christmas experience Kingdom of the Elves returns this year, which will see the park transformed into a “fully festive immersive experience”.

This includes an Elf School where kids can ‘graduate’ after a number of activities including helping Santa deliver letters to decorating the tree with the elves.

There is also the Rudolph Breakfast barn, where families can enjoy a full breakfast alongside live performances.

And of course kids can meet Father Christmas at Santa’s Lodge.

The festive stays also include overnight stays with a choice of lodges and cottages, which can sleep up to 14 people.

The park’s biggest attraction, The Serendome, will be turned into a life-sized snow globe.

And the Blue Lagoon, the subtropical waterpark, will remain open as well as the adult-only Well Spa.

Families can also go stargazing, and could even spot the Northern Lights due to the low light pollution.

Weekend stays can still be found in November for £555, based on a family of four.

This is much cheaper than Center Parcs, where similar dates start from £999.

Families have previously raved about the park at Christmas.

One wrote last year: “This was our third consecutive Christmas break and it was just as good as the first.”

Another wrote: “The resort had made so much effort.

“The Santa grotto was one of the best I’ve ever experience, my 4 year old loved it.”

A third said: “The staff and elves on site were absolutely fantastic, going above and beyond to create a magical Christmas experience for our 6-year-old daughter.

“They truly brought the festive spirit to life, and their enthusiasm and attention to detail were remarkable.”

One even said the Serendome “felt like you were stepping into the North Pole”.

The Sun visit Bluestone at Christmas

The Sun’s Agony Aunt visited Bluestone at Christmas last year.

Within minutes of arrival, you realise most guests are big fans of Christmas – people bring their own trees and decorations and most golf buggies were decked out in tinsel and baubles.

There were whole families dressed up as Santa or elves and I spotted some very fine Christmas suits. Wherever you go, the standard greeting is, of course, ‘Merry Christmas’.

A lot of the activities are pitched at children younger than mine, but there was still more than enough for my lot to get stuck in to.

The kids absolutely loved the Elf Lagoon and would have happily stayed there drifting around the Lazy River and zipping down the various slides all day if hunger hadn’t beaten them.

The two youngest also went along to the Elf School, which was a lovely little multi-activity experience that they were probably a year or two too old for.

Our whole group went to the Christmas Show: Snow White And The Seven Elves, where even the moody teens cracked a smile at the jokes.

The production was great fun and perfectly pitched for families and we were all really impressed with the vocals.

One thing is for sure, it’s absolutely impossible to visit Bluestone Kingdom Of The Elves and not get totally immersed in the Christmas spirit.

Here are some other holiday parks in the UK that are just as good to visit in winter.

And we’ve rounded up the best travel competitions to enter in time for Christmas.
