About the Internship
The Redefine Properties Sustainability Internship Programme offers exposure to the integration of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles within property investments, asset management, and reporting frameworks.
Interns will develop a comprehensive understanding of sustainability within a Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) while supporting the company’s Green Building objectives in collaboration with the Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA).
This internship provides hands-on learning in ESG data management, research, sustainability reporting, and project coordination, making it ideal for graduates passionate about sustainability and green property development.
Purpose of the Role
To provide administrative and research support through data collection, sustainability reporting, and project coordination aligned with Redefine’s ESG strategy.
Key Performance Areas
1. Data Collection & Management
- Gather and consolidate ESG-related data from internal and external stakeholders.
- Validate and maintain data integrity on ESG reporting platforms.
2. Research & Benchmarking
- Conduct research on ESG trends, regulatory developments, and industry benchmarks.
- Support documentation for Green Building recertification.
- Identify performance improvement opportunities across property portfolios.
3. Reporting Support
- Assist in preparing ESG and sustainability reports.
- Contribute to ESG disclosure framework submissions.
4. Project Support
- Coordinate ESG initiatives (energy/water efficiency, waste reduction, etc.).
- Provide administrative and logistical project support.
- Track and monitor project timelines and deliverables.
5. General Administration
- Maintain ESG-related documentation.
- Schedule meetings, record minutes, and manage action trackers.
- Process payments and liaise with the finance department.
6. Stakeholder Engagement
- Contribute to internal ESG communication and awareness campaigns.
- Liaise with internal teams on sustainability updates and project progress.
Minimum Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification in the built environment and/or environmental studies.
- Professional accreditation (advantageous).
- Prior ESG experience (advantageous).
