Swinging ‘saved our marriage’ after we were ‘struggling’ – it’s ‘what we’d been missing from our life’ the whole time

AFTER going through a rough time in their relationship, one couple thought their marriage was heading for divorce.

However, they soon discovered how an unusual pastime could not only save them but lead to a stronger union than ever.

Jem Jones, 44, and her husband, Daz, 41, first met on Tinder in 2015 and formed an instant connection.

They went on to marry and start a family, even starting a contracting business together in 2021.

However, the pressures of becoming business partners soon took a toll on their relationship.

“We were starting a new business and we just got totally caught up in business life and the stress of it all and we just had no time for each other,” Jaz explained on the Wanderlust Swingers podcast.

“We were in a bad place and nearly split up, we thought it was nearly the end.”

Reconnection

The couple, who had taken up swinging after five years together before it “took a backseat” decided to reintroduce it to their relationship.

And now they credit the lifestyle with saving their relationship.

“We just reconnected and we [said] ‘this is what we’ve been missing from our life,’” said Jaz, who hails from Bournemouth, Dorset.

Daz added that attending their first swingers event after returning to the lifestyle helped them to improve their communication.

He explained that talking through their feelings around swinging helped them to create an open dialogue about everything from parenting their children to household chores.

The couple soon realised that swinging was a vital element to them enjoying their life together.

And Jem clarified that the pair do not just look to have sex with people and enjoy doing on dates as a couple.

Helping others

Now they “give back” and help other couples in the bedroom, providing guidance on the swinging community if it’s something those they are helping feel open to.

“We want to tell people — this works for us and it could work for you too,” Jem, an accredited coach, explained.

However, she added that couples don’t have to go down the swinging route.

What is Swinging?

SWINGING, also known as partner swapping, is a sexual activity where partners in a committed relationship engage in sexual activities with other people.

All parties involved must give explicit and enthusiastic consent.

Open and honest communication between partners is crucial.

Many swingers engage with a community or attend events specifically for swinging.

Such activity can enhance intimacy and trust within the primary relationship.

It provides an opportunity to explore sexual fantasies and desires.

But it is not suitable for every relationship and requires a strong foundation of trust.

Jealousy and emotional challenges may arise and need to be managed.

She pointed out that their are many ways to reconnect, including simply discussing bedroom fantasies with each other.

“This is a journey to be explored — everyone has their own levels,” Daz said.

“You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to.”

Jem said: “The key is to keep talking about it.”
