About the Programme
The Northern Cape Department of Health (an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer) is recruiting Pharmacist Interns on a 1-year contract, starting 01 January 2026. Successful candidates will train under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist and gain comprehensive exposure to medicine supply management, dispensing, pharmaceutical care, training, and quality assurance.
- Salary: R440 226 per annum (TCE package)
- Registration: You must be registered with SAPC as a Pharmacist Intern before duty commences
- Preference: Northern Cape bursary holders and residents of the Northern Cape
- Accommodation: Not provided
Minimum Requirements
- Degree in Pharmacy accredited with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) (eligible for Pharmacist Intern registration)
- Registration with SAPC as a Pharmacist Intern prior to start date
- Competencies: accuracy under pressure, professionalism, computer literacy, good interpersonal & communication skills, knowledge of applicable pharmacy legislation and National/Provincial Health policies
Key Duties (Under Supervision of a Pharmacist)
- Adhere to policies, procedures and expenditure control
- Support training/education of pharmacy staff and other health workers; promote public health
- Manage medicine supply: procurement, storage, control and distribution of quality pharmaceuticals
- Provide pharmaceutical care: prescription evaluation, dispensing, counselling for adherence and therapeutic success
- Uphold Quality Management: National Core Standards, OHS control and Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP)
