About the Internship Programme
The Siyathuthuka Local Municipality is an equal opportunity employer and seeks to provide practical training opportunities for young graduates. The Learner Technician – Electrical Services Specialist Programme aims to give graduates hands-on experience in the installation, maintenance, and operation of electrical infrastructure and machinery within the municipal area.
This learning opportunity will also prepare successful candidates to work toward obtaining the Government Certificate of Competency (GCC).

Preferred Requirements
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering (to qualify for the Government Certificate of Competency).
Key Responsibilities
As a Learner Technician, the successful candidates will:
- Assist in the implementation and execution of operational guidelines, policies, and procedures within the Electrical Department.
- Gain exposure to legislation relevant to electrical services, including the Health and Safety Act, Wiring Regulations, Labour Act, and applicable Municipal Bylaws.
- Participate in planning, reporting, and quality control processes related to electrical projects and maintenance work.
- Assist in feasibility studies, inspections, and monitoring of municipal electrical infrastructure.
- Support customer awareness programmes and satisfaction surveys.
- Accompany operational staff to gain technical knowledge and maintain proper records of activities.
- Perform any other related duties as required by the supervisor.
Salary
Remuneration will be in line with the municipal grading system and applicable conditions of service.
