SAFPU welcomes ruling on Kaizer Chiefs duo
The South African Football Players Union (SAFPU) has welcomed the ruling affirming a principle that players must not be bound by contracts that are no longer valid. SAFA Arbitrator Hilton Epstein ruled in favour of Velebayi and Luke Baartman, declaring them free agents. They are now free to play for Kaizer Chiefs. SAFPU sees this as a major win for players.

Kaizer Chiefs striker Wandile Duba admits that the start of the 2025-2026 season hasn’t been his best work. However, the 21-year-old vows to keep working hard. He started the first four matches of the league but has only made one substitute appearance since.
