Carl Niehaus, the controversial Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Member of Parliament (MP), has continued his parliamentary duties remotely from a hospital bed after suffering complications following an operation.
The former ANC spokesperson leveraged his medical situation to launch a blistering attack on his former party, calling it “evil incarnate.”
Niehaus, who was elected to the National Assembly in May 2024, confirmed his hospitalisation via a social media post, stating he was suffering post-operative complications. However, he stressed that his health setback would not deter his political commitments.
“I am in hospital, having suffered complications after an operation, but I continue to proceed with my Parliamentary duties to the best of my abilities,” the MP wrote.

He confirmed that he participated in a virtual meeting of the Portfolio Committee on Defence and Military Veterans yesterday, citing the urgency of political struggle: “revolution doesn’t wait, and neither should we.”
“Being ready means knowing your history, sharpening your mind, and standing in purpose with clarity no matter what the challenges of your immediate circumstances are. Stay ready—so you never have to get ready. #StayReady” wrote Niehaus,
Niehaus sits on the Defence and Military Veterans, as well as the Correctional Services committees in Parliament.
