Kaizer Chiefs administrator Jessica Motaung has secured a prestigious position with world football governing body FIFA, joining its Men’s Football Stakeholders Committee.
The 52-year-old South African is among a number of prominent Africans recently appointed to various FIFA roles.
The Football Stakeholders Committee is one of nine standing committees and is pivotal in addressing the structure of the game, fostering collaboration between players, clubs, leagues, associations, and confederations within FIFA.
Motaung’s appointment follows her 2023 election as the First Deputy Chairperson of the African Clubs Association (ACA) in Cairo, Egypt.
The move highlights a growing African presence in high-level football governance. Earlier this month, former Premier Soccer League (PSL) referee Victor Gomes was named to the FIFA Referees Committee following his respected career.
Furthermore, Eng. Hersi Said, the ACA Chairman, has been appointed a Member of FIFA’s Men’s Club Competitions Committee, with Morocco FA president Fouzi Lekjaa joining as the first Council Member. Additionally, Cameroon FA president Samuel Eto’o now serves as the vice president of FIFA’s Laws of the Game Committee.
