Coca Cola is bringing back ‘life-changing’ discontinued flavour to UK shelves TODAY after it was dropped 7 years ago

AN ICONIC drinks giant is bringing back a fan-favourite flavour today after seven years.

Shoppers will be able to buy cans or bottles of the nostalgic drink from a major supermarket – but only for a limited time.

Launched in the 80s, Diet Cherry Coke will be back on UK shelves on October 8 for the first time since 2018.

It has been given a nostalgic twist and comes wrapped in retro-inspired packaging to mark its return.

Tara Byrnes, Senior Brand Manager for Diet Coke Great Britain, said the company “have been listening and are so excited to announce the return of Diet Cherry Coke”.

Diet Cherry Coke made its long-awaited comeback in America earlier this summer.

The drink is available exclusively at Tesco stores nationwide from today.

Tara added: “The comeback of this retro icon is the tasty throwback that fans have been hoping for.

“Some love a classic, and others a twist; for some this little cherry-flavoured ritual will give an opportunity to make Diet Coke breaks reflect ‘your taste’ even more.

“Returning exclusively for a limited time, the flavour you love, cherry, is back – but get it while you can!”

The new flavour is available in Tesco from today, October 8

It comes in 24 x 300ml multipack cans, 500ml bottles and 2L bottles.

‘Love it’

News of the announcement was shared widely on social media with shoppers posting hundreds of comments on sites, including Facebook group Newsfoods UK.

One person said: “I love Cherry Coke.”

Another said: “I need a restock of this.”

A third, however, was not so impressed at the thought of its return, posting: “Gross!”

Over on TikTok, Coke fans were just as vocal.

One posted: “This feels so monumental. It’s so good.

“It’s everything. I can’t stop drinking this and I’m actually so sad that this is limited-edition.”

The news of Cherry Coke’s return comes just weeks after a new flavour of Coke hit shelves, which also provoked a mixed reaction from shoppers.

Cans of Orange Cream Coca-Cola were spotted on sale causing quite a stir with consumers.

A social media post contained two pictures of the orange-coloured cans alongside the caption: “Orange Cream Coca-Cola spotted at Home Bargains!”

However, shoppers had mixed views as they flooded the comments section.

One user fumed: “Just leave things alone.”

A second stated: “They just taste like Vanilla Coke.”
