M11 chaos as drivers hit with 90-minute delays and FOUR miles of traffic after ‘police incident’

A MAJOR motorway have been hit with huge delays and miles of traffic after a “police incident”.

One lane of the M11 southbound between Junction 5 (Loughton) and Junction 4 (Woodford) was closed due to an Essex Police incident.

National Highways reported 4.5miles of congestion earlier this morning.

The police incident has now concluded with all lanes reopened.

But there are still “delays of 90 minutes” on approach, said National Highways.

Drivers have been forced to endure a slow crawl during the morning rush hour.

Motorists were urged to allow extra time for their journey this morning.

It comes after the M6 was forced to close near Walsall, West Midlands, after a horror smash between a lorry and a motorbike yesterday afternoon.

A motorcyclist died after the “serious” crash.

The rider was tragically declared dead at the scene after the shocking collision, which occurred at around 3pm.

Emergency crews are assisting between junction 10, for Walsall, and junction 11, for Shareshill, along the busy route.

West Midlands Police confirmed the carriageway would remain closed to southbound traffic for “some time”.
