Over the last few episodes of MAFS UK, Grace and Ashley have had on ongoing argument over… nails. The back-and-forth over this has become pretty confusing. Grace has now explained that her nails saga with Ashley had a different ending to what we saw on MAFS UK. It all makes more sense now.
Wait, why were Ashely and Grace talking about nails in the first place?
For starters, we didn’t actually witness the initial nails incident on MAFS UK, but Ashley and Grace describe it differently. Ashley explained earlier in the week: “I woke up the other morning, and her nails were overgrown, and I was like, ‘Shall we get your nails done?’ And her reply was, ‘I don’t need to get my nails done for a man.’”

During the commitment ceremony, Grace said: “We’re in bed. He sees that my nails have overgrown. He’s like, ‘I like these done. Keep these up.’ So I just said, ‘Nobody tells me how to dress, how to look, how to be.’” Ashley maintained that his intention was to offer if Grace would like to get a manicure “as a treat”. Grace didn’t see it that way.

Apparently, the whole nail conflict did have another ending, which we didn’t get to hear about on TV. On Instagram, Grace went into further detail about aspects of their commitment ceremony that didn’t make the final edit.
“These couch sittings are about an hour each to film,” she explained, “you barely see any of it… I trust the viewers will be alert and vigilant to this while watching.”
Grace continued: “Not aired is the conversation on my set of freshly manicured nails. Admittedly not a set of French tips, but an ‘A’ on my ring finger. A compromise, to validate and affirm my husband. I won’t be told I am cold or not trying.”

If you examine the commitment ceremony episode, you’ll see Grace did in fact get a manicure after that conversation with Ashley. The French tips are gone.

Her nails are now white, and there is a black letter A (for Ashley) on the fourth finger of her left hand. Well, I’m glad we’ve cleared that up.
