Kaizer Chiefs are finalising flights to the Democratic Republic of Congo for their CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round clash against AS Simba.
The Betway Premiership giants are still reeling from their Carling Knockout exit to Stellenbosch FC, but football goes on.
Now the focus shifts to central Africa.
CAF CONFEDERATION CUP: AS SIMBA VS KAIZER CHIEFS
The Phefeni Glamour boys are chasing a spot in the tasty group stages, effectively the last 16 of the competition.
Amakhosi booked their place in Africa’s second-tier tournament by lifting the Nedbank Cup last season, edging arch-rivals Orlando Pirates 2-1 in a fiery final at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Kaizer Chiefs then overcame Angolan side Kabuscorp in the first qualifying round, progressing on penalties after a tense 1-1 aggregate scoreline.
TRIP TO LUMBUMBASHI
AS Simba arrive on the continental scene as rookies.
The Congolese side from Kolwezi qualified after beating FC MK Etanchéité 1-0 in the Coupe du Congo final. However, their home stadium doesn’t meet CAF standards, meaning the tie will be staged in Lubumbashi.

Simba showed their quality with a 3-0 aggregate win over Djabal of Comoros in the previous round, showing that despite their lack of history in Africa, they are here to compete.
Kaizer Chiefs will play the first leg away on Friday, 17 October, with the return leg scheduled for Thursday, 24 October, at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg. A place in the group stage is 90 minutes away.
