Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s father, Nick Feinberg – the son of anti-Apartheid hero Barry Feinberg – has rubbished claims made by Elon Musk about his country of birth.
The Pretoria-born billionaire has accused the government of promoting “racist laws” which have halted the operation of his internet satellite service, Starlink, in the country.
Springbok Sacha is of mixed race, with a white British father and a black, Zulu mother.
SACHA’S DAD SLAMS ELON MUSK
On his X account, Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s father, Nick Feinberg, rubbished the comments made by Elon Musk about South Africa’s “racist laws”.
MAGA account @AliceVLAuthor reposted a clip of the world’s richest man criticising South African transformative legislature, like Black Economic Empowerment, which requires Starlink to have a percentage of local shareholding ownership.
The account tweeted: “Just a reminder that if you are a White South African citizen, you can’t own your business outright. You MUST give a portion of it to Black South Africa and employ Black South Africans”.
Sacha’s dad replied to the tweet, commenting “ignorant lies”.
His comment was met with criticism from a few followers who questioned his stance.
He clapped back: “Show me a law requiring me to have black shareholders, directors, or partners in order to run a private business in South Africa as a white citizen? Yeah, that’s right…You can’t”
When one argued that it was the “truth”, Nick responded: “It’s absolutely not, and I’m not gonna get into another pointless debate. Try ChatGPT or Grok or something for a quick answer.”
RACE CLASSIFICATION
It’s not the first time Nick Feinberg has shared his views on topics like race, particularly concerning his son, Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu.
On the X app, Nick clapped back at a tweep who made an assumption about his son’s race.
“Wow, such a bunch of BS,” he tweeted of the post.
In another, he blasted a commentator who questioned why Sacha opted to use both his parents’ last names.
X user @africanpanther posted: “When this kid first broke through, he was known only as Mngomezulu”.
Addressing Nick, he asked, “Did you pressure him into including your hard-to-pronounce name for such moments?”
Nick Feinberg clapped back: “I don’t normally answer stuff like this. But to satisfy whatever deep need you are servicing, the answer to that is no.”
SACHA IS THE GRANDSON OF AN ANTI-APARTHEID HERO
According to the SABC, Barry Feinberg was a distinguished artist, poet, and author who “played a pivotal role behind the scenes in designing and creating publicity materials for the anti-Apartheid movement.”
Daily Maverick credits Feinberg for his revolutionary creation of the early ANC and Umkhonto weSizwe logos, which features a warrior with a shield and spear.
During apartheid, Feinberg was forced into a 30-year exile, where he fathered his son Nick, the father of Sacha Feinberg-Mgomezulu.
“Hope I made you proud, Grandpa”, Sacha shared on social media last year after his official Springbok debut.
