OCTOBER 2025 SASSA CHILDCARE GRANTS
The October 2025 SASSA Childcare Grants in question are the hugely popular South African Social Security Agency Child Support Grant. As well as SASSA Foster Child Grants. The former still pays out R560 to approximately 13-million needy parents. While the latter is dedicated to court-appointed caregivers and pays R1 250 per child.
Unfortunately, the taxpayer stipend is not keeping pace with rising inflation. This makes it more difficult for poverty-stricken parents/caregivers with young children to make ends meet.
HOW TO APPLY FOR A CHILDREN’S GRANT
Nevertheless, here’s a reminder for all those with children under 18 who need assistance from SASSA. Only one parent may receive October 2025 SASSA Childcare Grants per child. You must comply with the minimum asset and means limits for the grant in question. And you will need to show the following when you make your application:
- Proof of residence.
- Valid bar-coded identity document (ID) of you and your child.
- Proof of your marital status (if applicable).
- Documents proving your income and/or dividends.
- Information regarding your assets, including the value of any property you own.
- Up-to-date three-month bank statement to prove your banking details.
- Copy of your spouse’s last will and final liquidation (if dead in the last five years).
WHEN WILL OCTOBER 2025 SASSA CHILDCARE GRANTS PAY OUT?
As mentioned, SASSA Foster Child Grants require proof that you’re a court-appointed guardian of the child in question. Likewise, SASSA Childcare Dependency requires a letter from a government doctor stating that the child is mentally or physically disabled. While SASSA Child Support’s only eligibility is income based.
Securing any one of the three October 2025 SASSA Childcare Grants can take anywhere up to three months. However, if successful, your first payment will be backdated to the time of your application. If not successful, you may appeal the decision within three months. Take note of the remaining payment dates for the year:
- OCTOBER: Monday 6 October 2025 (this week)
- NOVEMBER: Friday 6 November 2025
- DECEMBER: Thursday 4 December 2025
