About the PIC Bursary Programme 2026
The Public Investment Corporation (PIC) is offering bursaries for the 2026 academic year, aimed at financially needy and academically deserving students who wish to pursue undergraduate studies in specific fields.
Fields of Study:
Bursaries will be awarded for studies in the following fields:
- Accounting and Accounting Science (CA stream)
- Actuarial Science
- Applied Development Economics
- Cost and Management Accounting
- Computer Science
- Economics and Mathematical Science
- Finance / Financial Management
- Human Resources Management
- Information Management / Information Systems / Information Technology
- Internal Audit
- Investment Management
- Law (LLB)
- Mathematical Statistics
- Quantitative Finance
- Research
- Risk Management
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria to be considered:
- Must be a South African citizen
- Must not be older than 25 years
- Must have been born in and reside in Mpumalanga, North West, KwaZulu-Natal, Northern Cape, Eastern Cape, Western Cape, Limpopo, Free State, or Gauteng
- Must be currently in Matric or have completed Matric
- Must be studying or intend to study full-time towards an undergraduate qualification in one of the listed fields
- Must be pursuing their first undergraduate qualification
- Must be admitted or accepted to a public accredited institution of higher learning in South Africa
- Must have achieved a minimum 60% average for Matric mid-year results or latest academic results
- Must be unemployed and in financial need
- Must demonstrate excellent academic performance
- Students living with disabilities are encouraged to apply
Bursary Coverage and Benefits
The PIC Bursary Programme covers the costs of tuition, accommodation, books, and other study-related expenses, depending on the student’s financial need and the institution’s requirements.

Required Documents:
- Certified ID copy
- Certified Matric June results (if in Matric) or Matric certificate (if completed)
- Full academic record (if currently studying)
- Proof of registration/acceptance from a public institution
- Proof of household income (latest payslips, affidavits, or SASSA letters)
- Death certificates (if applicable)
- Proof of disability (if applicable)
- Completed and signed Consent Form (.pdf) if under 18
