The City of Johannesburg Municipality invites South African youth residing permanently in Johannesburg to apply for the 2026 bursary programme. A total of 200 bursaries are available for full-time undergraduate studies in various fields of study.

The bursary is available for the following disciplines:
- Actuarial Science
- Built Environment (Architecture, Construction, Urban and Regional Planning, Quantity Surveying)
- Commerce
- Community Services
- Emergency Management Services
- Engineering (All Fields)
- Health (All Fields)
- Finance (Accounting, Auditing, Small Business Management, Supply Chain Management, Treasury, Economics)
- Information Technology and Management (All Fields)
- International Relations and Protocol
- Legal
- Logistics
- Marketing
- Municipal Governance (Monitoring and Evaluation)
- Real Estate (Property Management, Property Valuation)
- Geo Information Science (GIS)
Criteria for Selection
- Selection will be strictly on academic merit.
- Applicants must study at an accredited South African tertiary institution.
- The bursary applies to undergraduate qualifications only (minimum 1 year).
- Not applicable for postgraduate studies.
- Renewable annually, subject to academic performance.
What the Bursary Covers
- Tuition and registration fees
- Prescribed books and/or study material
- Coverage limited to R40 000 per academic year

- Latest academic record
- South African Identity Document
- Proof of residence in Johannesburg (e.g., Water & Lights / Rates & Taxes statement)
- Parents’ proof of income / death certificates OR affidavit (if applicable)
