The 14th edition of Pretoria Pride is set to bring a burst of colour to the administrative capital this weekend.
Kicking off Pride Month – which is celebrated every October in South Africa – this annual event will see thousands of members of the local LGBTQIA+ community and allies coming together to celebrate diversity, encourage awareness, and promote equality and inclusion.
The theme this year is “Uniting the Rainbow”, so clearly, it promises to be a colourful and memorable experience.
Here’s how you can participate and show your pride!
PRETORIA PRIDE: EVENT DETAILS
The event will take place at the Centurion Rugby Club at 270 West Avenue, Die Hoewes, this Saturday, 4 October, with the gates opening at 9:00 and closing at 22:00.
You can expect a variety of food stalls, bars and a beer garden. There will also be plenty of shaded areas for you to rest under.
Additionally, you can peruse the expanded flea market or visit the community stall, which will offer information and support services regarding various health initiatives, including HIV awareness.
ENTERTAINMENT AND PRIZES GALORE

For your entertainment, you can enjoy live music and DJing performances from the likes of Greunen Parker, Soné Joubert, Armand Joubert, the Johannesburg Queer Chorus and DJ Pieter.
Local drag artists, including Manila von Teez, Pink Mirage, Kendall Li, Stella Rosé, Levine Dolcevita and many, many more, will also form part of the glittering line-up.
What’s more, you stand to win prizes for “Best Dressed” and “Biggest Supporter”. So, be sure to show up and show off your best rainbow-coloured outfits on the day.
PRETORIA PRIDE: MARCH OF A RAINBOW NATION
At 12:00, the main march will commence. The route starts at the rugby club in West Avenue, proceeding through Lenchen Avenue, Jean Avenue and Gerhard Avenue before returning to the starting point.
This is the perfect opportunity to stand (or walk, in this case) alongside your fellow South Africans who form part of our country’s eclectic LGBTQIA+ community.
Together, we can show the world that the Rainbow Nation stands united in promoting diversity, inclusion and equality for all.
Tickets are R50 for general admission and R150 for VIP and are available to purchase from www.quicket.co.za.
