The former Scandal! star and her husband have welcomed their bundle of joy

South African actress Sivenathi Mabuya and her husband have welcomed their bundle of joy.
Looking back on the month of September, Mabuya described it as “the toughest and most rewarding month of my life.”
The actress received an outpouring of congratulatory messages from her former Scandal! co-star Mapaseka Koetle and fellow actors including Dineo Moeketsi and Natasha Thahane.
She first shared the news of her pregnancy in June 2025, writing: “Bump’s out the bag… thank you for your kindness. We couldn’t be happier.”
Sivenathi and her husband Aphiwe Bukani have a love story that stretches back to 2008.
The two first met at Hemingways Mall in the Eastern Cape, where she and her sisters were stranded and he offered them a lift home.
Aphiwe asked her out for an ice cream date soon after, but she only accepted 12 years later. “He was patient enough to wait 12 years for that ice cream date he asked for back in 2008,” she recalled.
In January 2022, the couple celebrated their traditional wedding following successful lobola negotiations, surrounded by close family and friends.
Reflecting on marriage in an earlier interview, Sivenathi said, “I guess it should be when you really love someone. But deciding to get into it and begin it are two different things. Can’t say my decision was easy but it is definitely one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.”
Best known for her role as Xolile Medupe in Scandal!, Mabuya exited the telenovela in 2021, although she has not ruled out the possibility of returning in the future.
