THE LOVE STORY
Manie and Verna-Lee met at Outeniqua High School in George in the Western Cape. Verna-Lee previously described Manie as “shy and quiet” saying she was the one with a more bubbly personality and the first to talk to him.
“We were in the same business class and that’s where we met. He was very shy and quiet and I’m very bubbly so I was the first one talking to him,” she said in an interview with Insider SA.
The pair began dating in 2016. By 2023, Manie popped the big question and Verna said yes! The pair got engaged at Klein Roosboom Boutique Winery in Cape Town.
Manie expressed that he was instantly interested in Verna.
“She caught my eye from the word go, to be honest. I just wanted to be close to her,” he said.
