CITY POWER COMMENCES METER AUDITING PROGRAMME IN PARTS OF JOHANNESBURG

City Power has commenced with the meter auditing programme in parts of Johannesburg.

The programme, which will run from 25 November 2025 to 8 December 2025, aims to enhance the accuracy of billing while promoting transparency and operational efficiency in the delivery of services.

According to City Power, customers who refuse to comply with meter auditing, specifically in cases of faulty or tampered meters, will be disconnected and fined more than R14 000 for single-phase connections, along with additional reconnection fees.

Three-phase connections may incur penalties exceeding R30 000.

“Customers are urged to immediately make arrangements for the audit. This programme is being rolled out in phases, with future audits and meter replacements scheduled across other Service Delivery Centres (SDCs) in the coming days,” the power utility explained.
