Eskom has confirmed that residents in parts of Ga-Rankuwa, north of Pretoria, will experience a 12-hour power outage as the utility carries out essential maintenance on its distribution network. The planned outage will affect Ga-Rankuwa Zones 20 and 21 on Wednesday, 12 November, and Thursday, 13 November, from 8:00 to 20:00 each day.
According to Eskom, this interruption forms part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen power infrastructure and improve service reliability in the Gauteng region.
“The interruption in electricity supply is necessary to perform essential maintenance on our distribution power lines,” the power utility said.
Residents urged to exercise caution during the power outage
During the maintenance period, Eskom has urged all customers to exercise caution and treat all electrical appliances as live for their own safety. The utility emphasised that safety remains a top priority throughout the maintenance process.
“In the interest of safety, customers are advised to treat all electrical appliances as live at all times during the power supply outage,” Eskom stated.
Residents have been encouraged to plan ahead by switching off non-essential appliances and ensuring backup lighting or power solutions are available.
While the power outage may cause inconvenience, Eskom says the planned work is critical to preventing unexpected breakdowns and enhancing long-term network stability in the Ga-Rankuwa area.
Possible delays and apology to customers
Eskom expressed appreciation to affected customers for their patience and cooperation.
“Eskom would like to thank you for your cooperation and apologises for any inconvenience that this maintenance may cause,” the statement read.
However, the power utility also issued a disclaimer noting that unforeseen circumstances could delay the planned work.
“Please note that should circumstances beyond the control of Eskom arise, the planned electricity maintenance may not proceed as communicated,” the statement added.
Residents are encouraged to monitor Eskom’s official communication channels for any updates regarding the maintenance schedule or possible postponements.
